Russia in a month of war against Ukraine lost 7 generals: the USSR in 10 years in Afghanistan - only 5

In Ukraine, Russia lost seven generals in a month. By comparison, the USSR lost only five during the 10-year war in Afghanistan.

The comparison was given by military expert Oleg Zhdanov, Novosti Donbassa reports. According to him, even in World War II the loss of generals was less.

"This is a huge number, even if you compare with the Second World War. Back then the number of dead per month in the war never exceeded one or two generals. And here we have seven," Zhdanov said.

He added that the deaths of seven generals are colossal losses for Russia. He explains that the Russian army is built according to a strict one-man principle where the role of a commander is decisive.

We shall remind you that as of March 27, Russia's losses in Ukraine already amounted to 16.6 thousand soldiers. At the same time, during the war in Afghanistan, the USSR lost just over 15 thousand (in 10 years).
