Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, 136 children have been killed. Another 199 have been injured.
Ukrainian ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova reported this on Facebook.
"As of 8 o'clock on March 26, 2022, according to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations, as well as other sources requiring confirmation, 136 children have been killed and 199 children have been injured since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine," she wrote.
The same information was published by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Thus, the publication notes that the most affected children in the Kyiv region - 64, Kharkiv - 44, Donetsk - 50, Chernihiv - 38, Mykolaiv - 28, Lugansk - 25, Zaporizhzhia - 17, Kherson - 20, the capital - 16, Zhitomyr - 15, and Sumy - 14 regions.
Thus, on March 25, 2022, a 9-year-old child was killed and another was wounded by Russian military fire in Donetsk region.
On March 24, 2022, a 13-year-old girl from a village in Mykolaiv region suffered multiple facial wounds as a result of artillery fire by the Russian military.
On March 23, 2022, due to shelling of a pedestrian bridge in Chernihiv by the occupants, a family with an 11-year-old boy sustained injuries in the form of shrapnel wounds.
Because of daily bombardment and shelling, 570 educational institutions were damaged, 73 of which were completely destroyed. The worst situation is in the Donetsk, Kharkov, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Kherson, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. In addition, more than 40 institutions for children were hit by enemy fire, including medical facilities, art schools, sports facilities, and libraries.
These data are not final, as there is no possibility to inspect the sites of shelling in the areas of active hostilities and in the temporarily occupied territories.
