The United States government has recognized the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine as a war crime based on the analysis of the collected facts. This was stated in an official statement by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
"Today I can announce that based on the information we have, the U.S. government believes that Russian troops have committed war crimes in Ukraine," the head of the U.S. Department of State said.
He emphasized that this position is based on a thorough analysis of available information from official and intelligence sources.
Blinken also stressed that the U.S. government will continue to monitor all reports of Russian war crimes and share the information gathered with allies, partners and international institutions and organizations.
"We seek accountability using all available tools, including criminal prosecutions," the U.S. secretary of state stressed.
