Operational update: The General Staff told about the situation at the beginning of the 28th day of the war

The 28th day of the Ukrainian people's confrontation with Russian aggression has begun. The General Staff of the AFU reported on the situation in the regions as of 06:00 on March 23.

This was reported by the General Staff of the AFU on its FB page.

Thus, in the eastern direction the operational groups of troops are operating in the Donetsk, Slobozhansky and eastern part of the Tavrichesky operational areas.

Our fighters do not allow the enemy to resume the offensive in the directions of Slavyansk and the settlement of Lozovaya. Also the AFU restrains the enemy's advance in the direction of Zaporizhzhya.

A group of combined forces restrains the advance of the Russian military in the direction of Popasna and Kurakhovo. There is also a circular defense of Mariupol.

In the north-eastern direction, a defensive operation continues in a defined operational area. The main efforts are concentrated on covering the state border and deterring the enemy offensive in the area of Malin.

In the Northern direction, the AFU is holding up the defense of Chernihiv and deterring the enemy's advance towards Kyiv.

In the Southeastern direction, a defensive operation is conducted, supporting the actions of ground groups of troops and individual units, and the defense of basing points and seaports in the Black Sea operational zone. The defense of Mykolaiv and settlements in Mykolaiv region continues.

Ukrainian defenders are deterring the enemy in the directions of Kriviy Rig and Novovorontsovka, conducting a stabilization operation, and carrying out territorial defense tasks.

The General Staff also noted active actions of the enemy's aviation and missile strikes over the past 24 hours.

During the previous day more than 17 enemy air targets were hit - six aircraft, five drones, one helicopter and five cruise missiles.

In addition, our aviation conducted devastating strikes on accumulations of enemy equipment and manpower and shot down cruise missiles.

The enemy in some areas was demoralized. For example, during the storming of the city of Mariupol, in one of the special forces detachments engaged in active combat operations, less than 10% of the personnel were ready to continue participating in the war, the rest were killed, wounded, sick or demoralized.

Covert mobilization continues on the territory of the Russian Federation. Military commissariats are trying to attract former servicemen to serve and sign appropriate contracts. Preference is given to those who already have combat experience.

On the territory of Belarus, representatives of the opposition forces and non-indifferent citizens have partially disrupted the railway communication between the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine. The information is being clarified.

At the same time, according to available information, there is active movement of Russian and Belarusian military equipment across the territory of the Republic of Belarus and its further accumulation along the Ukrainian border.

As a reminder, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak urged the EU to provide Ukraine with air defense systems, because Russia understands only the language of force.
