Two-time Olympic champion
refused to fight the current undisputed world lightweight champion George Cambosos. He has decided to stay in Ukraine with his family and continue to be in the ranks of the thero, ESPN reported.
According to the agreement, the fight was to take place on June 5, 2022 in Melbourne, Australia. Lomachenko would have already been scheduled to leave the country for training camp, but declined, the publication reported.
His opponent, Kambososos, supported the Ukrainian boxer's decision to stay in the country.
"Vasyl Lomachenko, I respect your decision, fully understand and pray for you and your country. Please stay safe. And one day, when I wipe the floor with David (Haynie), we will meet in a fight between two true champions. God bless you," he wrote on Twitter.

It should be noted that the June 5 bout with Cambosos, according to the publication's sources, was offered to American boxer David Haney. He insisted on a fight with the undisputed champion, but remained "plan B". It is reported that he was offered a deal similar to the one previously signed by Lomachenko.
Recall that Lomachenko joined the ranks of the Belgorod-Dnistrovsk Odesa region, which he is a native of.
