People continue to be rescued from under the rubble of the Mariupol Drama Theater destroyed by Russian troops, there is no information about casualties, according to the Mariupol City Council.

"On March 16, Russian occupation troops purposefully destroyed the Drama Theater in the heart of Mariupol. Up to a thousand people were in the place by the time of the bombing. Mainly women, children and the elderly, who were hiding in the basement of the theater from the continuous shelling by the aggressor," said a message in the Telegram channel.

The city council stressed that because of the constant air raids and hostilities in the city, it was almost impossible to dismantle the rubble immediately after the shelling.

"In rare moments of relative calm, people promptly approached the site of the destroyed theater and rescued trapped Mariupol residents. According to preliminary information, there is no data on the dead. But there is information about one seriously injured person", - the report says.

The removal of the rubble continues as much as possible.
