Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that Germany is making an effort to build a new wall in Europe when it hinders Ukraine's accession to European institutions.
He said this in his speech to the members of the German Bundestag.
The president began his speech by rebuking the fact that many players in Germany do not want to limit Russia as the situation demands.
"I address you after three weeks of a full-scale invasion. After thousands of Ukrainians have died... After we saw how many ties your companies have left with Russia, with a state that uses you and other countries to finance the war," he said.
Zelensky stressed that Germany, which has previously opposed Ukraine's rapid integration with the Western world, bears some of the responsibility for pushing the attack.
"When we asked you - what must Ukraine do to become a member of NATO, we heard in response - such a solution is not on the table and will not be. And you procrastinate even now the question of Ukraine's accession to the European Union. For you, it is politics. In fact, they are just stones, stones for a new wall (separating Europe)," the President explained.
Volodymyr Zelensky, however, stressed that there are politicians in Germany who understand what is going on.
"I am grateful to German business, which has put morality before economics. I am grateful to politicians who choose life between Russia's money and the deaths of Russian children... Those who know that Ukraine will be in the European Union," he said.
Zelensky also called on Chancellor Scholz to "break down the wall" that is now in Europe.
Earlier, after Zelensky's speech to the US Congress, the United States announced that it would provide Ukraine with air defense systems at Zelensky's request.
