On Wednesday, March 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a strong speech to the U.S. Congress via video link. He urged U.S. lawmakers to provide our country with military aircraft and air defense systems to better protect Ukrainian skies from Russian occupiers, which would save thousands of civilian lives.
The speech of the Ukrainian leader was broadcasted on Youtube "Voice of America. Ukrainskoe." He reminded Americans of the attack of Japanese air and underwater forces against American forces at the Pearl Harbor naval base. Back then, their skies were black and shaking with explosions, just as they are in our country today. That's why, according to the president, we need to protect the skies.
He urged U.S. lawmakers to close the ports to Russian goods and create new rapid-response tools to stop Russian invasion, since existing ones are not working today.
