President Volodymyr Zelensky visited checkpoints around Kiev on Sunday, March 13, where the Ukrainian military is stationed after Russia began its war against Ukraine, Novoe Vremya reports.
"I didn't want it to be very public. Just to support our guys, to talk. Courageous guys, cheerful guys, defending Kiev and knowing that we will win. You can feel it," the president said.
Zelensky said he met a man at the checkpoint who brings the military a pot of food every day.
"Just from the heart. And I know that it's people like that who have been holding our state together for centuries. It is because of people like that that we will get through any dark days. Because we are together. And we always protect our own. And our own. Not for money. Not for coercion. Not as those who come to us. But because we are Ukrainians," Zelensky said.
On 13 March, Volodymyr Zelensky visited the wounded defenders of Ukraine undergoing treatment in a military hospital. It should be noted that the medical facility where the head of state visited had received military servicemen with injuries of varying degrees of severity after the battles in the Kiev Region.
