The European Union condemns the kidnapping of mayors by Russian occupants and considers it another attack on democratic institutions in Ukraine.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel said.
"The EU strongly condemns the kidnapping of the mayors of Melitopol and Dniprodnoye by the Russian armed forces," Borrel wrote on his Twitter.
He added that this is yet another attack on democratic institutions in Ukraine and an attempt to create illegitimate alternative state structures in a sovereign country.
