A meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place when a package of proposals for negotiations to establish peace has been worked out.
Mykhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said this during a telethon of the largest Ukrainian TV channels.
"Now with the help of our partners who want to mediate, including Israel and Turkey, we are looking for a place where it would be desirable to negotiate in terms of security guarantees, and most importantly, we are working on a package of agreements that will take into account only the position of Ukraine. It is important for us. And then when this is worked out, agreed upon in advance, the presidents can meet and work out the final provisions of the peace. I think this will happen, and it will not take us that long to get there," Polodiak said.
At the same time, he noted that it definitely won't happen in the next two or three days, because it takes time. "We'll try to make it happen as soon as possible. Because we are for every human life, we want our people not to be killed, especially civilians, military, not to distort our infrastructure. There is no value of life for Russians," Podolyak said.
The adviser to the head of the OP stressed that this is the mental difference between us and the people of the Russian Federation, because for Ukrainians life is valuable, and for them - a way to pressure someone.
"I think that and they already want to go to direct presidential bilateral negotiations and the signing of an effective treaty," Podolyak said.He assured that Ukraine will not give up its position. "We have specific goals in the negotiation process: this is the end of the war, this is the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops and the like. But I see that there is already an understanding of this whole process, there is already a compromise dialogue," Podolyak said, noting that the Russian side no longer speaks the language of ultimatums at the talks, but also listens to Ukraine's proposals.
Podolyak noted that usually the Russians in any position use elements of blackmail, trying to intimidate, to demonstrate violence. "But the Russians need to understand this and see the number of victims on their side, it is more than 13 thousand dead, I'm not talking about the wounded, prisoners, the shock that the country called 'Russia' begins to experience," he said.
According to Podolyak, now the Ukrainian and Russian sides are in constant contact, all aspects are being discussed. To make sure that every word we talk about is legally correct. Ukraine must get what Ukraine should get. We have moderation of the process on the part of both President Zelensky and the head of the OP Yermak. They are very actively involved in developing positive solutions for Ukraine. I mean the negotiating positions", - added the adviser of the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
At the same time, Podolyak believes that it is no longer possible to save the "face" of the Russian Federation for the century ahead. "They may not understand it to the end yet, that everything is much worse, because they came to Ukraine and started killing peaceful people... They're not civilization, they're barbarians who know how to fight against civilians who can't be held accountable for their words .They got a fundamental package of sanctions that will work no matter what. It will ruin their economy more or less, but already weak enough in terms of competitive advantage with other nations. All this will affect them for centuries: no reputation, no economy, no quality of life. We can't respect people who can come with war," said the adviser to the head of the OPU.
