Russian occupants in the city of Irpen shot and killed a journalist of the foreign publication New York Times. Another journalist was wounded.
This was reported by Andrey Nebitov, head of the Kyiv Region police.
The 51-year-old correspondent of the American edition of the New York Times Brent Renaud became a victim of the Russian occupiers.
"Another journalist was wounded. Now the victim is trying to get out of the combat zone. Of course, the profession of a journalist involves risk, however, US citizen Brent Renaud paid with his life for his attempt to cover the insidiousness, cruelty and ruthlessness of the aggressor," Nebytov said.
It should be noted that even before the war in Ukraine began, U.S. President Joe Biden warned Russia that in the event of an attack on American citizens, the U.S. response would be strong and immediate.
On March 2, a Russian missile strike on a TV tower in Kyiv killed the first media worker since the war began.
A few days later, Russian saboteurs opened fire on journalists from the British TV channel Sky News.
