European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen says the European Union is preparing a fourth package of sanctions against Russia for the war it unleashed against Ukraine.

She made this statement Friday in Versailles, France, at the end of an informal EU summit.

"We will come out with a fourth package of sanctions. These sanctions will further isolate Russia from the global economic system, increasing even more the toll for Putin's takeover of Ukraine," von der Leyen said.
