Russian terrorists fired on a nuclear facility in Kharkiv

Russian terrorists fired on another nuclear facility in the city of Kharkiv. This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.

It is noted that last night the aggressor country carried out air bombardment of the nuclear research facility "Source of neutrons based on subcritical assembly controlled by a linear electron gas pedal," which is located at the site of the National Scientific Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" (Kharkiv). (Kharkov).

According to preliminary information, the Neutron Source is completely de-energized, and there is surface damage to the building. At the moment, information about the consequences of the damage is being clarified by the staff of "Neutron Source".

It is noted that this is already the second attempt of the enemy to destroy the nuclear installation - on March 6, 2022 as a result of the shelling there were damaged cooling system air conditioner cables, heating main and surface of the main building of the installation.

Prior to the aggression, Neutron Source was in the physical start-up phase, in which the core was loaded with fresh nuclear fuel.

The bombing and destruction of this facility would lead to an environmental catastrophe that would spread to the territories of all states adjacent to Ukraine.

Attacks on high-risk facilities carry the threat of environmental pollution not only in Ukraine, but also far beyond its borders, as well as a violation of everyone's right to a safe environment for life and health.

"I call on the leadership of NATO member states to finally decide to close our skies and establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine to prevent further crushing missile attacks on the enemy," Denisova stressed.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency said that information from the Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plants had stopped coming in.
