The damage from Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has already exceeded 100 billion dollars. This was stated by Ukrainian presidential economic advisor Oleh Ustenko at a virtual event of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, reports The New York Times.
Thus, Ustenko noted that Russian troops have destroyed infrastructure, buildings and other material assets in Ukraine.
"The situation is a disaster that is actually much deeper than anyone can imagine. What really needs to be done is a total worldwide embargo on Russian oil and gas. This is blood money," Ustenko said.
Ustenko also added that the country's business sector is ruined: 50 percent of businesses do not work, and those that do work are operating at less than full capacity. He added that Ukraine's financial system and currency remain stable given the current circumstances.
Ustenko stressed that the construction costs that Ukraine will face after it emerges from the war will be enormous.
