The Russian Foreign Ministry has assured that it was not the aim of the war to overthrow the incumbent authorities in Ukraine.
This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova during a briefing, reports "Interfax."
"Its objectives do not include the occupation of Ukraine, the destruction of its statehood, or the overthrow of the current government.
It is not directed against civilians," Zakharova said.
As noted in the Kremlin, the disloyalty of the Ukrainian government to the Russian occupiers and the refusal to surrender Donbass is one of the reasons for the Kremlin's attack.
The president of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, calls the Ukrainian leadership a "gang of drug addicts and neo-Nazis" and the war a "denazification.
After several days of war, Russia, seeing that it was not succeeding, began to change and reduce its demands.
Thus, on March 7, the Kremlin assured that it was ending the demilitarization of Ukraine. There was no mentioning about "denazification" anymore. On the same day the head of Bellingcat Hristo Grozev reported that Russia offered President Vladimir Zelensky to stay in his position.
