The third round of talks between Ukraine and Russia: what is known

Today, March 7, there will be a third round of talks between Ukraine and Russia on ending the war. The exact location of the meeting of the delegations of the two countries is not known.

On March 3, the second round of talks between Ukraine and Russia on ending the war took place. However, the meeting ended practically without results on the main issues.

In turn, the delegations agreed on

- a temporary ceasefire to organize humanitarian corridors;

- creation of channels of communication and interaction on humanitarian corridors.

Following the talks, "green corridors" were established in Mariupol and Volnovakha to evacuate local residents. However, on March 5, Russian troops opened fire during the evacuation of Mariupol residents. A repeat evacuation was carried out on March 6.

The first round of talks took place on February 28 at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border near the Pripyat River. During the meeting, the Ukrainian delegation insisted on the cessation of shelling and withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine.

For its part, Russia insisted on the recognition of "LDPR" within the borders of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, demilitarization of Ukraine, and consolidation of the neutral status of the country.

During the talks, the delegations of the two countries identified a number of priority topics on which certain decisions were outlined. After which the sides went away for consultations.
