AFU General Staff: Numerous violations of the laws of war and international humanitarian law are recorded along the entire Russian offensive strip

As of 8 p.m. on Monday, February 28, Russian forces continue to regroup and accumulate armored vehicles and rocket and artillery weapons in certain directions, primarily with the aim of encircling and capturing Kiev and large Ukrainian cities, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Separate units from the most combat-ready formations of the Armed Forces of Belarus have begun to move to the state border of Ukraine in the Volyn direction. In addition, the territory of Belarus continues to be used for combat sorties by the army, operational-tactical and special aviation of the Russian Armed Forces to perform tasks on the territory of our country.

Aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces have resumed air reconnaissance of targets in the territory of Ukraine from the airspace of Belarus," reads the message on Facebook.

It is noted that numerous cases of violations of the laws of war and international humanitarian law by the Russian aggressor are recorded throughout the Russian offensive strip.

"The most common war crimes of the Russian occupiers: the use of weapons against civilians, bombing, rocket and artillery attacks on residential areas, causing the destruction of civilian infrastructure. The enemy uses state symbols and uniforms of the Armed Forces, National Guard and National Police of Ukraine for cover," the General Staff points out.

In addition, Ukrainian flags are displayed on convoys of Russian military equipment. Such cases were noted in the settlements of Pobeda, Novaya Basan in the Kiev region, and on the Krasnov-Nizhyn road in the Chernihiv region.

When a column of tanks and armored personnel carriers was advancing, the aggressor shelled the homes of local residents in Chernihiv region, from Talalayivka to Nizhyn.

Tanks from the Russian occupation troops on their way through the village of Borodyanka, on the orders of their commanders, began deliberately destroying infrastructure and housing, and a separate group of tanks opened chaotic fire on multi-story buildings.

In addition, there were recorded instances of the enemy displaying a white flag on their equipment ostensibly to surrender. However, after approaching Ukrainian positions, the occupiers begin to open fire to kill.

According to available information, the commanders of the Russian tactical groups were ordered to destroy mobile communication towers as they moved deeper into Ukrainian territory.

"All this shows that the Russian occupiers are panicked, because they have not received any bread and salt promised by the propagandists. They only received hatred and disregard for the civilian population and a dignified repulse from Ukrainian troops," the report stresses.
