Ukraine and Russia are holding consultations on the place and time of negotiations, Ukrainian presidential press secretary Sergei Nikifotov said.
"Hello colleagues, I must refute statements that we have abandoned negotiations. Ukraine has been and remains ready to talk about a ceasefire and peace. This is our permanent position. We responded by agreeing to the proposal of the President of the Russian Federation. The parties are consulting on the place and time of the negotiation process right now," he wrote on his Facebook page on Friday night.
He stressed that "the sooner the negotiations begin, the better the chance of resuming normal life".
