Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov said that he has decided that it is possible to involve in the Territorial Defense Forces people over 60 years old who are ready "morally and physically" to resist.
"Dear Ukrainians! For 30 hours there has been a full-scale Russian attack on our state. Thanks to the heroism of our defenders and defenders, Ukraine survived the first, most difficult twenty-four hours. The invaders suffered significant losses. Today we will be stronger. After all, thousands of people are joining the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces and are ready to fight back against the enemy. I am proud of each and every one of you! There are already 18,000 assault rifles and appropriate ammunition in Kiev alone, which have already been distributed and will continue to be distributed to combatants of the Territorial Defense Forces during yesterday and today," the minister said on Facebook on Friday.
Reznikov emphasized that the number of those wishing to join the ranks of the TrO Forces is growing, and more weapons are coming in.
In addition, he reported on the decision, which was agreed upon with Brigadier General Yuri Galushkin, commander of the TrO Forces of the AFU, to attract to the TrO Forces people over 60 years old "who are morally and physically ready to resist and defeat the enemy."
"I also spent almost all night talking to fellow defense ministers of the states who have been giving us constant support. The reaction of the world is becoming clearer. We will soon receive additional reinforcement in the form of advanced weapons and other resources from our partners," he informed.
