The government's decision to temporarily impose a state of emergency throughout the country is necessary and balanced, an official statement from the Security Service of Ukraine said.
"The situation in which our state finds itself requires us to be united, calm and resolute. And readiness to use every opportunity to defend the country at any moment. For the sake of the state's security and our victory in the hybrid war, we must, above all, work proactively, respond to challenges in advance and think through every step forward, taking into account the potential development of various scenarios. The government's decision to temporarily introduce a state of emergency throughout Ukraine is necessary and balanced," the statement said.
The agency stressed that the escalation in Donbas is accompanied by attempts to undermine society through panic, cyber attacks and activation of Russian agents of influence and subversive groups, but the introduction of the state of emergency will provide additional tools to neutralize them and counteract other manifestations of hybrid warfare.
The SBU also added that the introduction of the state of emergency does not mean that the lives of citizens will become more difficult.
"There is also no reason to escalate the situation and spread fakes - we are talking about the introduction of a state of emergency, not martial law. As soon as it will not be necessary, it will be cancelled", - said in a statement.
