Leonid Kalashnikov, chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, said that Russia will recognize the "LPR" and "DPR" within the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This was reported by Russian media outlets.
Kalashnikov noted that at a February 21 meeting of the Russian Security Council, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev proposed recognizing the independence of the "L/DPR" within the administrative borders that were established before their "occupation by Ukraine, from Mariupol to the historical borders."
We shall remind you that militant leaders Denys Pushylin and Leonid Pasechnik asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the "independence" of the "DPR" and "LPR".
On February 21, Putin recognized the independence of the self-proclaimed "L/DPR" and signed relevant decrees. In them, Putin instructed to introduce troops into the occupied Donbass to "maintain peace.
It was also noted that Russia would recognize the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" within the borders that are now actually established.
