Russia's recognition of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Luhansk People's Republic" signals the end of the Minsk process, British Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss said.
"President Putin's recognition of the 'Donetsk People's Republic' and 'Luhansk People's Republic' as independent states demonstrates Russia's blatant disregard for its obligations under the Minsk agreements. This move represents a further attack on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, signals the end of the Minsk process and violates the UN Charter. It demonstrates Russia's decision to choose the path of confrontation rather than dialogue," Truss said in a statement on her Twitter page on Monday.
She stressed that Britain would coordinate a response with allies.
"We will not allow Russia's violation of its international obligations to go unpunished," Truss added.
