Britain supports the idea of an international tribunal against Putin

British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that London is open to the idea of an international criminal tribunal that would try Vladimir Putin and other Russian leaders for the war in Ukraine.

She said this on the air of Times Radio.

"We are clear that Putin and all those behind the horrific war crimes that are being committed in Ukraine should be brought to justice, and we are working very closely with the International Criminal Court," Truss said.

Britain, she said, has sent support to Ukraine to help gather evidence, from testimony to video evidence.

"I've talked to the Ukrainian government about this idea of a tribunal. We're open to it, we're considering it right now, but we want the most effective way to prosecute those people who committed these horrific war crimes, including rape, sexual violence, indiscriminate attacks on civilians," Truss said.

"If a tribunal can help do that, then Britain is undoubtedly considering supporting it," the official said.
