Putin told Macron and Scholz that he would sign a decree recognizing the DPR and LPR

Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the Kremlin press service said Monday evening.

"Putin briefed on the results of an enlarged meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, which considered the current situation around Donbass in the context of the State Duma resolution on the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Today also received appeals from the leadership of the DPR and LPR to recognize their sovereignty in connection with the military aggression of the Ukrainian authorities, the massive shelling of the territory of Donbas, as a result of which the civilian population suffers," the message reads.

"In view of all this, the Russian president said that in the near future he has in mind to sign a corresponding decree," the press service informs.

The French president and the federal chancellor of Germany "expressed disappointment with such a development. At the same time they expressed their readiness to continue contacts", the press service informs.
