French President Emmanuel Macron proposed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. leader Joe Biden hold a summit on security in Europe, both sides agreed, the Elysee Palace reported.
"Macron proposed a summit between President Biden and President Putin and then with relevant stakeholders to discuss security and strategic stability in Europe. Presidents Biden and Putin both agreed to the idea of such a summit in principle," the report said.
It is noted that the summit's agenda is to be prepared by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during their February 24 meeting.
"The summit can only take place on the condition that Russia does not invade Ukraine," the Elysee Palace added.
