Head of the EU diplomacy Josep Borrell said that the EU strongly condemns the reports about the shelling of a kindergarten in Stanytsia Luhanska.

Borrel said this in a statement published on the website of the EU foreign policy service.

"Such indiscriminate shelling of civilian infrastructure is absolutely unacceptable and is a clear violation of the ceasefire and the Minsk agreements. The European Union calls for an immediate end to the ongoing escalation of violence and commends Ukraine for its continued restraint," Borrell said.

He stressed that the European Union is united in its firm support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

"The European Union fully supports the work of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission and calls for its unimpeded access to the entire territory of Ukraine in accordance with its mandate," Borrell added.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the shelling of a kindergarten in Donbass by pro-Russian separatists was a "fabricated operation" aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian government.

In Stanytsia Luhanska, three people were injured when a shell hit a hole in the wall of a kindergarten.
