The Verkhovna Rada has ratified the loan agreement between Ukraine and the EIB to restore roads in the East. In particular, the agreement "Eastern Ukraine: Reunification, Restoration and Revival" provides for the construction and repair of state roads in the Luhansk region, the Government Portal reported.
"For 2 years of the presidential project "Big Construction" in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions we managed to renew 661 kilometers of roads. This is an absolute record from the time of Independence. Our plan for this year is 314 km. Accessibility of the eastern corridors remains a national priority.
In particular, thanks to the agreement ratified today, we will be able to upgrade an additional 122 kilometers already this year. I thank our international partners for their attention to the reconstruction process in the East of Ukraine, and the people's deputies for the timely and important decision for the country" - Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
In particular, the agreement includes the renovation of 122 kilometers of road R-66 checkpoint "Demino-Alexandrovka" - Svatovo - Lisichansk - Lugansk, which will connect the cities of Troitskoe, Svatovo, Kreminna and Severodonetsk.
Works on the overhaul can begin in this construction season.
Let us recall that the financial agreement between Ukraine and the EIB was signed on December 9, 2020.
It provides for the allocation of 100 million euros for the construction and reconstruction of public roads in Luhansk region.
