Ukraine's possible accession to NATO is opposed not only by Russia, but also by some members of the North Atlantic Alliance. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The president stressed that Ukraine had decided to join NATO for its security and had been moving in this direction for a long time. However, according to Zelensky, the distance to the North Atlantic Alliance is not shrinking.
"And this is not a philosophical question, but there are concrete reasons - because of the opposition of both Russia, which does not want Ukraine to be a member of NATO, and some countries - members of the Alliance. And there are no secrets in this," Zelensky added.
He said that Russia today justifies the presence of its troops on the Ukrainian borders with the NATO issue, while some European countries "play along with it.
