Kiev has created commissions for the evacuation of the population, the mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, said at a briefing on 14 February.
"Kiev has created commissions for the evacuation of the population - at the level of the KSCA and in each district. The evacuation plan determines the location of collection points, the number of necessary transport and safe areas to accommodate the population. I would like to note: within the city", - said Klitschko.
According to him, the fund of protective constructions of civil protection of Kiev includes more than 500 shelters. They are located on the objects of critical infrastructure and are designed to protect workers.
There are also almost 4,500 dual-use constructions, where city residents can take shelter in case of emergency. These are underground parking lots and underpasses, recessed subway stations, basements and semi-basements.
"I would like to note that in peacetime, dual-use structures can be used for economic activities. There may now be stores, pharmacies, cafes or barbershops. But, in case of an emergency, the balance holders and heads of establishments should open the doors and provide protection to the population," Klitschko said.
