Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the situation in the world is becoming "increasingly turbulent and tense. He called for "seeking" from the U.S. and NATO legally enshrined so-called "security guarantees.

This was reported by the Kremlin website.

"The situation in the world is becoming increasingly turbulent and tense. This undoubtedly requires additional persistent efforts to ensure strategic stability and counter threats and challenges, which first and foremost - by seeking from the United States and their NATO allies comprehensive, legally enshrined security guarantees for our country," Putin said.

Earlier, Russia had held three rounds of talks on "security guarantees" with the US, NATO and OSCE.

We should add that the Russian Foreign Ministry sent requests for "security guarantees" to 57 OSCE and NATO member states.

They raise the same issues that Russia raised in previous letters, in particular the rejection of NATO enlargement, including the accession of Ukraine.

At the same time, the EU said yesterday that it would reject Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's request that bloc member states respond individually to Moscow's demands for "security guarantees.
