Russia is ready to launch a nuclear strike if Ukraine is accepted into NATO. Vladimir Putin said this during a joint press conference with Emmanuel Macron.
"Do you understand or not that if Ukraine is in NATO and takes back Crimea militarily, European countries will automatically be drawn into a military conflict with Russia. Of course, the potential of a combined NATO and Russian organization is not comparable. We understand, but we also understand that Russia is one of the leading nuclear powers, and is even ahead of many in some components of modernity. There will be no winners, and you will be dragged into this conflict against your will. You will not even have time to blink when you implement point five of the Treaty of Rome," Putin said.
