U.S. Charge d'Affaires Christina Quinn urged to speed up the competition for the position of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), admitting that the reputation of President Volodymyr Zelensky depends on it.

She said this during the television show "Freedom of Speech Savik Shuster," reports "European Pravda.

According to her, the issue of the selection of the head of the SAP was raised at the highest level with the Ukrainian government.

"President Zelensky told our president that he would do it. The selection committee has members who went through the whole process. It took more than a year and a half. There are candidates who are up for the job, but they refuse to take the final step, which is to get together, create a quorum and send a message about the candidate to the officials. I assume they are influenced by vested interests not wanting an anti-corruption prosecutor appointed," Quinn said.

According to her, this situation is about reputation. According to Christine Quinn, commissioners should stop listening to corrupt individuals and see the selection process through to the end.

"It's about the reputation of everyone who said they would accomplish this task," she said, when asked if the president's reputation is also on the line.

"Reform takes a lot of work because there are people who don't want it to happen, and some of those people are in power, or it's people with money who can influence the process, but it's happening slowly, and that's what we want to see, because it will ultimately make Ukraine stronger," Christine Quinn added.

As reported, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during a visit to Kiev, urged the commission to select the leadership of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office to complete the final stage of the competition without delay.
