The fifth president of Ukraine, the leader of the party "European Solidarity" Petro Poroshenko says that he does not consider himself a suspect in the case of illegal deliveries of coal from the occupied territory and therefore asked the court to return the materials of the application for a preventive measure to the prosecutor's office.
"In fact, there is no evidence that I was served a suspicion ... I do not consider myself a suspect," Poroshenko said in court after a break to familiarize himself with the materials of the application.
According to him, the suspicion was not signed by the Prosecutor General, as required by law, moreover, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada was not informed about the suspicion.
Poroshenko also added that he did not give any reasons to assume that he could evade investigation and trial.
The prosecution called such allegations groundless, noting that acting Prosecutor-General Oleksiy Symonenko, who signed the suspicion, had the authority to do so.
