Border guards complied with applicable law when crossing Poroshenko's border - State Border Service

During the passport control of Petro Poroshenko at the airport "Zhulyany" (Kiev), border guards clearly respected the norms of the law. This is stated by the State Border Service of Ukraine.

"The State Border Service ensures the search at the checkpoints across the state border of persons hiding from the bodies of pre-trial investigation and the court, as well as the implementation in the prescribed order of law enforcement agencies. In the course of control measures, the border guards informed representatives of law enforcement agencies about the arrival of Petro Poroshenko in Ukraine," reads the statement released by the press service of the State Border Service.

Statements about the attempt to prevent Poroshenko from entering the territory of Ukraine in the State Border Service called "manipulation from individuals".

"Note that no citizen of Ukraine can not be restricted in the right to return to Ukraine," the message noted.

As reported, Poroshenko arrived in Kiev by flight from Warsaw at 9 o'clock on January 17. There was a delay at passport control, during which representatives of the State Bureau of Investigation tried to read Poroshenko a number of documents. Poroshenko himself said that his passport was not returned to him for 15 minutes, and considered it an attempt to prevent him from entering Ukraine.

After his speech to the supporters gathered at the airport, Poroshenko went to the Kiev Pechersky District Court, where the session on the choice of his preventive measure is about to begin.
