Petro Poroshenko said that border guards tried not to let him into Ukraine.
At the border control at the airport in Kiev, Poroshenko was not given his passport for some time. According to the ex-president, the staff of the State Border Service tried not to let him into the country: "So much they were "waiting" for us. They are so much afraid of us."
The former president of Ukraine and the leader of the European Solidarity Party, Petro Poroshenko, who has returned to the country from Poland, was served with a summons at the border control at the airport in Kiev, reports UNIAN.
According to RIA Novosti, the summons called the politician "detained." Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported that Poroshenko refused to take it.
At the control Poroshenko was not given his passport for some time, he was not allowed to enter the country. "There is a failure to let me into the territory of the state," he said on the air of the channel "Ukraine 24".
GBR officers said that they were conducting procedural actions and checking documents.
Then Poroshenko's passport was returned. After receiving it, he said, speaking to journalists: "Some of the GBR officers <...> tried not to let me into the territory of Ukraine, allegedly trying to establish whether I was Petro Poroshenko. So much they were "waiting" for us. They are so much afraid of us. According to the "European Solidarity" leader, the Ukrainian authorities are fighting the opposition instead of directing their efforts "to protect the state and fight the aggressor."
Poroshenko then addressed supporters near the airport building. "While we were building the foundation of statehood, incumbent Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and oligarch Igor Kolomoisky were pulling bricks from the foundation and building villas in Italy, destroying Ukraine. And they had the courage to accuse us of treason," Petro Poroshenko said.
