Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked US President Joe Biden for his readiness to give a decisive response in case of Russian invasion, the Ukrainian president's official Internet office has reported.
During telephone conversations he also expressed gratitude for the US President's support of the principle "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine".
The OPU noted that the key topic of the talks was the situation in Donbas and near the Ukrainian borders.
"I highly appreciate the support of the United States for our proposal to hold a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission in the coming days," Zelensky said.
The two leaders also discussed the steps Ukraine is taking within the framework of the Minsk and Normandy formats.
"Today we are talking about the future not only of Ukraine, but also of European security and a world order based on rules and democratic values," the Ukrainian president stressed.
Zelensky and Biden also discussed economic and energy security challenges.
We shall remind you that Zelensky and Biden had a telephone conversation on 2 January. During the conversation, the US president made it clear that Washington and its allies and partners would respond if Russia invaded Ukraine.
