Interior Ministry demands a ban on fire sources in hospital intensive care units

On December 28, there was an explosion in the Kosovo Central District Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will require a ban on the location of sources of open flame in intensive care units. This was reported in Facebook by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky.

As a result of the explosion three people died. Despite the fact that the other three patients were saved, the doctors are still fighting for their lives, as they received burns of varying severity. We are talking about a nurse, a nurse and an anesthesiologist.

"And I want to emphasize that it is important to strictly enforce fire safety rules in medical facilities. First and foremost in the covid wards. And I ask the heads of hospitals and intensive care units to take care of this, "- said Monastyrsky.

According to the minister, the tragedy occurred as a result of one of the medical workers lit a candle in the intensive care unit after the death of one of the sick patients.

"At the time, five oxygen concentrators were operating in the room at the same time. The air was oversaturated with oxygen. Contact with fire instantly occupied the medical equipment," Monastyrsky added.

According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ministry will require strict compliance with fire safety rules and the prohibition of open flames in intensive care units.
