According to the Special Penitentiary Service, imprisoned former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is temporarily staying in a Gori military hospital.
It is said that on December 27 the medical staff decided to discharge Saakashvili from Gori military hospital and transfer him to isolator No.12 in Rustavi.
However, the former president of Georgia did not comply with the demands of the Penitentiary Service employees. His anxiety caused him to suffer from pressure fluctuations, so the decision of the special penitentiary service to transfer him was temporarily postponed.
"Due to great public interest we inform that on December 27 of this year, after the completion of treatment of convict Mikhail Saakashvili, the medical staff decided to discharge Mikhail Saakashvili from the Gori military hospital.
Mikheil Saakashvili did not comply with the legal demands of the Special Penitentiary Service to transfer him to isolator No.12 in Rustavi. Because of his anxiety, he was experiencing pressure fluctuations, which led to the decision of the Special Penitentiary Service to temporarily postpone the legal measure of transfer.
It is noteworthy that since November 19 this year Mikheil Saakashvili has been transferred by the Special Penitentiary Service to Gori military hospital named after Giorgi Abramishvili in Gori for appropriate medical treatment and was under constant medical supervision," the Penitentiary Service said in its statement.
Saakashvili himself said the day before that he briefly lost consciousness - after learning that he was to be transferred from the Gori hospital. Saakashvili's lawyer Nika Gvaramia briefed journalists on his appeal.
"It was about 5:30 p.m. and people in black uniforms came to me. They said they were transferring me but they did not say where. I demanded to have my blood pressure and pulse measured. My blood pressure was 180, then 200/110. My normal blood pressure is 120/80. I think it was a hypertensive crisis. I had never felt this way in terms of pressure and pulse. They tried to transfer me by force, I resisted, after which I lost consciousness, I do not remember a certain stretch. When I came to, the doctor said that I was not being transferred anywhere and that I was staying in the clinic," he said.
