Ukraine and the West are working on Plan A, but there is also Plan B, - Oksana Markarova

Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova said that Ukraine is working with Western partners on diplomatic deterrence of further Russian aggression. She listed the restraining measures that the parties are discussing, primarily political signals.

The Ukrainian ambassador to the USA told this in an interview with LB.ua.

According to her, the signals from the United States, are aimed at showing Russia quite clearly that US support for Ukrainian independence and territorial integrity remains adamant, despite any ultimatums.

"The U.S. administration is working actively to unite the transatlantic community in the face of the threat of a new wave of Russian aggression against Ukraine," the ambassador said.

She said it is also about economic restraints and developing Ukraine's defense and economic capabilities, providing lethal weapons for defense.

"Now we all: Ukraine, the United States, the West - are working on option "A", diplomatic deterrence, so that we do not have to go to option "B", for which also all are actively preparing," - said the ambassador.

As a reminder, Russia declared its readiness to use the army abroad to "protect its citizens.

We would like to point out that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba explained why Russian President Vladimir Putin was dragging troops to the Ukrainian border.
