Russian President Vladimir Putin has made a new statement about Ukrainian-Russian relations. He says he wants "good-neighborly relations".
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, referring to the statement of the Russian President at a press conference.
At the same time, he said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky allegedly fell under the influence of "Nazis."
"Russia wants good-neighborly relations with Ukraine, but it is almost impossible to build them with the current leadership of the country," he said.
It should be noted that earlier Putin said he was ready for a dialogue with Zelensky. But there is no talk of any organization of a meeting yet.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also answered the question whether he can give a guarantee that Russia will not attack Ukraine. According to him, this will depend on Russia's security.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded a public promise from Putin that there would be no new invasion of Ukraine.
"Regarding guarantees. Our actions will not depend on the course of negotiations, but on the unconditional security of Russia today and for the historical perspective," he said, without explaining what "historical perspective" he was talking about.
According to him, Russia is in favor of not expanding NATO eastward.
"Are we putting missiles near U.S. borders, no, it is the U.S. on our doorstep, is this an excessive requirement: not to put any strike systems near our home, what is unusual here?" he said.
Putin said the West should give security guarantees to Russia - "immediately and now, not demand them from us."
"It's not the course of negotiations that matters to us, it's the result that matters to us. Not one inch to the east they told us in the 1990s, so what? They fooled us," the Russian president said.
