Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he corresponds with Mikheil Saakashvili and asked the Georgian leadership to allow the politician's relatives to visit him in prison.
"I will tell you frankly: I get letters from him. He gets information from me. I talked to the leadership of the state of Georgia regarding Mr. Saakashvili. And so in the dialogue we met, and on the phone separately. They applied to me in order his other half or his mother could get to him. I called and asked, I will tell you frankly. And they did not refuse us," Zelensky told reporters on the sidelines of the conference of Ukrainian ambassadors in the state residence "Synegora" in the village of Guta, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
"The only thing I wanted our doctors to be involved in the process. There is still a delay with that," he added.
Zelensky indicated that he had discussed these issues with European Council President Charles Michel and some other high-ranking politicians.
