The conference with participation of all ambassadors of Ukraine that will take place on December 21-22 in Huta of Ivano-Frankivsk region, will start the process of geographical decentralization of Ukrainian diplomacy. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky during communication with the media after the trilateral meeting with the presidents of Poland and Lithuania in the residence "Synegora", reports the Official Internet - representation of the President of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian head of state voiced an ambitious goal: to change the perception of Ukraine in the world - not as a geographical object, but as a political entity.
"Not a problematic, but a strategic partner, whose opinion and interest the world does not formally take into account, but really counts with them. To do this on the global stage, Ukraine should not be a silent observer, but a proactive player. This is possible when diplomacy realizes its high role, and foreign policy changes from overly conservative and therefore slow to modern, mobile and very dynamic," he said.
Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that Ukrainian diplomacy should be created not only in the capital - high-level meetings, summits, forums should be held throughout the country: in Lviv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Dnipro, Mariupol and other Ukrainian cities.
"We did not start this way today, and we have successful first steps, so to speak, pilot projects. But Guta-2021 is the start of a new large-scale process with more than 300 people. It is geographical decentralization of Ukrainian diplomacy", noted the President.
The head of the state stressed that earlier meetings with participation of all current Ukrainian ambassadors were held once in two or three years, which in the modern world of superfast changes made them ineffective and formal.
"We need meaning, we need results, so now I will gather Ukrainian ambassadors here in Guta every year," said Volodymyr Zelensky .
The President reminded that for the first time since independence a comprehensive plan of action of Ukraine on the world stage - the Strategy of foreign policy activities was approved.
"Movement to the EU and NATO, strengthening our presence and national interest in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America. We will analyze the implementation of these and other important directions during the next two days. And year after year, strengthening our diplomatic team, we will discuss together the results and new goals of foreign strategy of our independent Ukraine", said the President.
