Leaders of Armenia, France and Azerbaijan Nikol Pashinyan, Emmanuel Macron and Ilham Aliyev met in Brussels.

"A trilateral meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, French President Emmanuel Macron and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is taking place in Brussels at the initiative of the French side," the Armenian government said on its Facebook page.

The meeting confirmed the agreement to restart the railroad in accordance with international border and customs regulations on the principle of reciprocity under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries.

Pashinyan and Aliyev agreed on the need for de-escalation on the border before delimitation and demarcation talks begin. The EU will provide an expert mission to resolve the delimitation and demarcation issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan confirmed that the key commitments made in the two trilateral statements of 9 November 2020 and 11 January 2021 will be implemented and that the agreements reached in Sochi on 26 November 2021 should be implemented.

Charles Michel called for the full and speedy resolution of all outstanding humanitarian issues, such as the release of detainees and the fate of missing persons, while recognizing that humanitarian gestures from both sides also help build confidence and help create an environment conducive to peace and reconciliation.
