EU Council will consider blocking of checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border

The situation on the Polish-Ukrainian border will be discussed at the EU Council on Transport on December 4 in Brussels. The issue was initiated by Poland, according to RMF24.

As noted, the protest of Polish carriers will be considered at the end of the meeting near the "Miscellaneous Issues" block. In addition to Poland, the meeting will be attended by representatives of Slovakia and Hungary, who, in particular, will inform about the impact of the so-called transport visa-free regime on the state of the transport business in Poland.

A representative of the European Commission told the Polish publication that it is out of the question to return to the practice of issuing permits for Ukrainian carriers, as it would be against EU law.

At the same time, the European Commission encourages Ukraine to create additional traffic lanes for empty trucks returning from Ukraine.
