Volodymyr Zelensky explained why he did not approve of the operation on the Wagnerites. The President stressed that the plan was ill-conceived and threatened to cause problems in relations with Turkey.
The head of state stressed that the operation on the Wagner Cheka fighters had been proposed by the then head of the GUR, Vasili Burba.
Zelensky noted that he was alerted in the plan by the fact that the plane of Turkish Airlines, which was to fly the Wagnerians from Minsk to Istanbul, was to land in Kiev.
"I had a question - should Erdogan know? No. I said I wanted to know, this is a plane that will have ordinary people in it - more than 100 people - and when you suggest landing a plane in Ukraine, what if it's hijacked by militants? Could they do that? Yes," the president recounted his conversation with Burba.
It was after that that Zelensky said that he believes that this is not a Ukrainian operation.
