The leader of the ruling Belarusian regime, Alexander Lukashenko, said when he would begin negotiations with opposition activist Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin should begin negotiations with Alexei Navalny first.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine, referring to his interview for the BBC.
In particular, he answered the question of whether Putin advised him on how to behave with the opposition.
"Look, Vladimir Putin did not advise me anything. I talked to him for over an hour now, and I didn't hear any advice from him. I can draw a parallel - as soon as Putin and Navalny sit down to negotiate, I will immediately start negotiating with Svetlana Tikhanovskaya," said Lukashenko.
He also answered the question of whether he wants Putin and Navalny to sit down at the negotiating table.
"That's his problem. I don't play that kind of game. For me, if you want my point of view, Navalny is a corrupt man. And Putin will never sit at the negotiating table with him. Because he is not an opposition leader, he is a traitor to Russia's interests," added Lukashenko.
Note that last week, Putin urged the Belarusian authorities to dialogue with the opposition.
Recall that Lukashenko acknowledged mass beatings of those detained at the protests after the presidential elections in Belarus in 2020.
Opposition activist Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is recognized by the Belarusian leader in Western democracies. Several criminal cases were opened against her in Belarus.
