Updated Partnership Charter Signed

Ukraine and the USA have signed an updated charter of strategic partnership. The document was signed by the heads of foreign ministries of both countries - Dmitry Kuleba and Anthony Blinken, writes RBC-Ukraine.

"Russia's aggression against Ukraine will end when Ukraine's place as an inseparable part of the West will be institutionalized and will not be questioned. Today we made an important step in this direction and signed a new Ukraine-U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter, which will allow Ukraine and the United States to confront common challenges even more effectively," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

According to the Minister, the establishment of the U.S.-Ukraine Strategic Partnership Commission opened a new page of relations and strategic partnership.

The Foreign Ministry has defined five new provisions of the document compared to the Charter of 2008:

- The U.S. supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, including Crimea.

- The Charter provides for the expansion of cooperation with the USA for strengthening of Ukraine's defense capacity, strengthening of security in Europe and the Black Sea region. Strengthening energy security is also included.

- The U.S. supports Ukraine on its path to full membership in the EU and NATO. And Ukraine has the right to choose its foreign policy future independently, without external interference.

- The document also mentions reforms in Ukraine. In particular: justice, creation of anti-corruption bodies, land reform, decentralization, digitalization and de-oligarchization.

- The U.S. also supports a plan to transform the Ukrainian economy, aimed at reforming and modernizing key sectors of the economy and promoting investment.
