Ukraine protested Putin's visit to Crimea

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has protested against the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine. A statement to this effect was made public on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, writes UNN.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its strong protest in connection with another visit of the President of the Russian Federation to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine: the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol not coordinated with Ukraine on November 4, 2021. This visit takes place in spite of repeated warnings of Ukraine", - noted in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that it considers the mentioned visit, as well as other visits of Russian officials to the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula, which were not agreed with the Ukrainian side, as a gross violation by Russia of Ukraine's sovereignty, international law, UN General Assembly resolutions, obligations under the agreements to which Ukraine and Russia are parties.

Ukrainian diplomats also called on the Russian side to return to fulfilling its international legal obligations.

"Russia as an occupying state has an opportunity to demonstrate genuine concern for the residents of temporarily occupied Crimea: to stop unprecedented human rights violations, in particular political repression, abductions and killings, release illegally held behind bars Ukrainians and focus on a political and diplomatic solution to the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders", - stressed in the diplomatic mission.

We shall remind you that today the Russian president visited the territory of temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
