Rospotrebnadzor announced the suspension of imports from Turkey of mandarins of one of the producers.

This is stated in a statement on the website of the Ministry, reports "European Truth".

The Russian agency said that "a residual amount of the pesticide 'chlorpyrifos' was found in the mandarins, the concentration of which exceeds the maximum permissible level."

"In this regard, from October 29, 2021 until a special order, the import of these food products into the territory of the Russian Federation is stopped to prevent the emergence and spread of mass non-infectious diseases (poisonings) among the population of the Russian Federation," the Rospotrebnadzor said.

It should be noted that Turkey is the largest supplier of mandarins to Russia. From January to August there were imported 107.6 thousand tons for more than $72 million. Pakistan is on the second place with more than 73 thousand tons for 50.8 million dollars.

It is noteworthy that the decision was announced the day after the statement of the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov that the supply of Turkish Bayraktar drones to Ukraine can "lead to destabilization" at the line of separation in Donbas.
